"Foundation" means many things to me. While almost every song on the album was composed or arranged within the last five years, this project represents my foundation as a person and musician. My immediate family has been a rock throughout my life and career, and half of the songs pay tribute to them. They inspire me every day. Regardless of the size of form, a strong familial Foundation will act as a force to fall back on, receive advice from, and reassure one's pursuits in times of doubt. "Foundation" also recognizes the history of American music and how the musicians that came before me inspired generations of people they'll never have the chance to meet. I believe the inspiration for this album is rooted in the past 100 years of American music, which all stems from the feeling of struggling and the musical concept of The Blues. "Foundation" pays homage to where I've come from. I hope each person that listens to this album will be inspired to contemplate their own foundation and what has made them who they are. This album is the result of me exploring that question and deriving inspiration from what I've found.
